Whole-Home Deep Clean Checklist
A deep clean goes far beyond a regular maintenance visit — it covers every surface, every forgotten corner, and every built-up layer of grime. Use this list for a seasonal reset, pre-listing prep, or post-renovation cleanup.
All Rooms — Universal Tasks
- Dust ceiling corners and remove cobwebs
- Wipe ceiling fan blades and light fixtures
- Clean all light switches and electrical outlets
- Wipe all door frames, doors, and handles
- Clean all baseboards — wipe, not just dust
- Clean window tracks, sills, and blinds
- Wipe all trim, crown molding, and chair rail
- Clean air vents and return grates
- Spot-clean walls for scuffs and marks
- Vacuum and edge all carpets; mop all hard floors
Kitchen (Extended Deep)
- Empty and clean inside all cabinets and drawers
- Degrease stovetop, burners, grates, and knobs
- Clean oven interior — racks, walls, door glass, and broiler
- Wipe down exhaust hood, filter, and surrounding wall
- Clean microwave inside, outside, roof vent, and turntable
- Defrost and clean inside refrigerator, including drawers and door seals
- Wipe top and sides of refrigerator
- Clean dishwasher filter, spray arms, door seal, and tub
- Scrub sink, garbage disposal area, and faucet
- Wipe countertops, backsplash, and grout lines
- Clean small appliances: toaster, blender, coffee maker
- Clean under and behind all appliances
Bathrooms (Extended Deep)
- Deep-scrub toilet: inside bowl, under rim, seat hinges, tank, base
- Clean tile grout in shower/tub with grout brush
- Remove and clean shower door tracks and curtain rod
- Clean and shine all fixtures: faucets, shower head, towel bars
- De-scale hard water deposits from glass, tile, and chrome
- Clean inside medicine cabinet and vanity drawers
- Wipe walls from top to bottom
- Clean exhaust fan and cover
- Mop floor including behind toilet and under vanity
Bedrooms
- Vacuum mattress (top, sides, and flip if applicable)
- Wash mattress protector and all bedding
- Clean inside and outside of all furniture — drawers, shelves, tops
- Dust and wipe headboard, bed frame, and footboard
- Clean inside closets: shelves, rods, walls, and floors
- Wipe all mirrors and glass surfaces
- Vacuum under and behind furniture
Living Room & Dining Room
- Deep vacuum upholstered furniture — cushions, crevices, undersides
- Clean under all furniture (move if needed)
- Dust all shelves, books (spine wipe), and decorative items
- Wipe TV, media equipment, and all cables
- Clean fireplace surround, mantle, and interior if applicable
- Wipe dining table, chairs (all surfaces including legs and rungs)
- Clean light fixtures and chandeliers
Entryway, Mudroom & Hallways
- Wipe coat closet shelves, walls, and floor
- Clean bench or storage unit
- Wipe walls from door to main room
- Clean front door — both sides, frame, and hardware
- Vacuum and scrub entry mat or rug
Laundry Room
- Wipe down exterior of washer and dryer
- Clean washer drum and gasket (run cleaning cycle if front-load)
- Clean dryer lint trap, housing, and duct opening
- Wipe shelves and surrounding surfaces
- Sweep and mop floor, including behind machines
