Airbnb Turnover Cleaning Checklist

Every item guests notice — and photograph. Use this checklist between checkouts to protect your listing rating. R&A covers every item on this list during a standard STR turnover.

Before You Start

  • Confirm checkout time and next check-in window
  • Walk all rooms and note anything damaged or missing
  • Start laundry immediately (linens + towels)
  • Open windows briefly to air out if needed

Kitchen

  • Wash, dry, and put away all dishes and cookware
  • Wipe stovetop, burner grates, and surrounding surfaces
  • Wipe microwave inside and outside
  • Clean coffee maker — empty grounds, descale monthly
  • Wipe exterior of refrigerator; check interior for leftover food
  • Wipe all countertops and backsplash
  • Scrub and shine sink and faucet
  • Empty and reline trash can
  • Restock: dish soap, sponge, paper towels, trash bags
  • Sweep and mop floor

Bathrooms

  • Scrub toilet — bowl, under rim, seat, lid, tank, base
  • Clean shower/tub: tiles, grout, door, curtain
  • Wipe and polish sink, faucet, and vanity
  • Clean mirror to streak-free finish
  • Empty and reline trash can
  • Replace or fold toilet paper (hotel fold)
  • Restock consumables: soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion (per house rules)
  • Replace bath mat and hang fresh hand towel
  • Sweep and mop floor

Bedrooms

  • Strip all beds — mattress protectors, fitted sheets, top sheets, pillowcases
  • Inspect mattress protectors; replace if soiled
  • Make beds with fresh linens; military-style corners preferred
  • Fluff and stage all pillows (remove any with stains)
  • Dust nightstands, lamps, and ceiling fan blades
  • Check under beds for forgotten guest items or debris
  • Vacuum floor including under and around bed
  • Wipe windowsill and blinds
  • Stage welcome card or amenity if applicable

Living Areas

  • Straighten and fluff sofa cushions and throw pillows
  • Fold and stage any throw blankets
  • Wipe remote controls and any shared electronics
